Liquorice Root

The liquorice root is particularly versatile in its effects. It is obtained from the dried root sprouts of the liquorice bush and is particularly rich in glycyrrhizin, phytosterols and numerous flavonoids. As it can have expectorant, antiviral and antibacterial effects, it is often used for coughs, asthma and hoarseness. It is also popular for stomach ulcers, as it has a positive effect on inflammation and can have an antispasmodic effect in the gastrointestinal tract. Furthermore, liquorice root is said to increase adaptability in stressful situations, which can also have a positive effect on horses with sensitive stomachs.

Feeding instructions: Horses (600kg bw) 20-60g daily. Cobs and ponies 10-30g daily 1 heaped tablespoon corresponds to approx. 12g. Add dry or brewed with the decoction to the feed.
